Rain thoughts

This is a continuation of my tweet.

The rain invokes so many senses and feelings inside, like eating a warm donut on a cold day or seeing lit up Christmas trees. love being human.

.. like shutting your eyes tight when you make a wish upon a shooting star, like having your pup rush to the door to greet you after a day at school. Like drinking 100plus after a crazy workout (I assure you this has happened. Before.), like insanity in a class during free period, like shouting off a cliff at the top of your lungs, like smelling freshly baked goods waft out of the kitchen. Like looking into a baby’s perfect face and seeing it burst into a smile, like hearing your parents say ‘i love you’. Like listening to your absolute favorite song come on the radio, like blowing out the candles when you are 5. Like going into the store and buying chocolate to eat right there and then, like watching old school Disney movies. Like lying on the grass and watching cloud shapes, like frolicking in a pool doing handstands. Like having a hand to hold, like being home away from home. Like presents, like joy, like love.

Okay maybe I got too carried away. But I still love this mood the rain puts me in.

I don’t usually rant paragraphs about musicians or music, but this one totally deserves it.

Just came back from the Corinne Bailey Rae concert, and I am like going insane with wonder like I just saw AN ANGEL DESCEND FROM HEAVEN!!!! No words can fully describe how amazingly talented this artist is, nor how much beauty there is both in her person and her work. By the third song I was dying already (Geri can vouch for this HAHA) – I was totally not expecting to be this blown away. To be honest, I think she sounds WAY better live than on record. IMAGINE THAT. HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!?!?

Every single song was sung with such power and raw emotion that not even for a moment could you tear your eyes or your ears away from it. ON TOP OF IT ALL, HER INSANE BAND. OMG. The band is so crazy talented and well put together; they complemented each other in every way possible – each arrangement was impeccably executed. AND HER VOICE – HER VOICEEEE – IT SINGS DIRECTLY TO YOUR SOUL. Not even to your HEART where all the fluffy feelingfeelings lie, but to your SOUL in the deepest recesses where your hidden emotions are buried (!!! NOT EVEN KIDDING)

I’d have to disclaimer that if you weren’t a fan and hadn’t heard her songs before, you probably wouldn’t have liked it as much, mainly because you wouldn’t have been able to make out the lyrics she was singing. AND FOR CBR, PART OF THE MAGIC IS THAT HER LYRICS ARE LIKE, CRYSTALS FALLING FROM HEAVEN AND INTO YOUR CUSHIONED EARS, AND THEN PENETRATING YOUR BRAIN LIKE DYNAMITE. (AND THEN EXPLODING INTO FAIRYDUST WITHIN YOUR MIND)

Her encore song was a surprise to everybody, a familiar tune by Doris Day that everyone knows by heart. But the beauty of CBR is that she makes an indelible mark on every song she covers, and this arrangement + last encore performance was freaking unicorn level mind-blowing (as you can tell I am running out of analogies to describe how amazing this was). Managed to find a really good youtube recording of her band doing the song.

Of course this doesn’t really do justice to what it actually sounded like LIVE.

CAN YOU IMAGINE LISTENING TO THIS LIVE, WITH HER BAND DECKED OUT IN FULL AND HER MAGICAL VOICE RESOUNDING AROUND THE ENTIRE ESPLANADE HALL AND BURSTING THROUGH THE CEILINGS!? IT WAS PIN DROP SILENCE AND WHEN SHE FINISHED EVERYONE WENT INSANE. My life will never be the same.

SO FINALLY, my tumblr is no longer secret. I have had it since 2008, but it was just used as a kinda ‘storage’ space for all my random images & whatnot from the web. But now that I’ve finally gotten the hang of how to actually use it & update it regularly (and I have been!), it shall now no longer be a secret stash of pretty things. I would like to think at some point in my life, I was as awesomely content as this little girl on this day and not only that, but that that joy & contentment overflowed from within me to such an extent that I had to PROCLAIM IT IN AN INSANE MANNER. This was pretty much the MOST EXCITING WORLD CUP MATCH I HAVE EVER WATCHED IN MY LIFE. I swear my heart was beating SO FAST towards the last few minutes!! NZ DREW AGAINST THE WORLD CHAMPIONS!! WOOTWOOOTTTT. I RANG YJ AND WOKE HIM UP (its 4am in NZ) JUST TO TELL HIM THE NEWS COS I WAS SO EXCITED. btw kudos to the kiwi GOALKEEPER ZOMG HE DESERVES ALL THE CREDIT FOR DEFENDING THE DRAW!

I think we all like the underdog story. Secretly, everyone roots for the nameless faceless team. The Allwhites weren’t even the black horse. THEY WORMED THEIR WAY IN. AMAZING. LOVE IT. WATCHING THE CRAZY KIWIS IN THE AUDIENCE STRIP THEIR CLOTHES AND A MAN DRESSED IN A KIWI SUIT REALLY MADE MY DAY.

And one more thing I need to get off my chest.. the NZ players are SO. HAWT. (GUYS WHO CAN PULL OFF MOEHAWKS ARE TRULY MY WEAKNESS) + ridiculous TALL AND BROAD build + awesome hair (except the bald dude and curly haired dude who looked like PETE haha) + flushed cheeks (chris wood looks like PRINCE WILLIAM) + let us not forget THE AWESOME KIWI ACCENT = I’m sold.

*_* I’m all starry-eyed now and my adrenaline was pumping so much a few minutes ago I don’t think I can fall asleep. <3 <3 <3

2. NEW MUSIC VIDEO OF DAVID CHOI’S SONG, PRODUCED BY WONG FU PRODUCTIONS

I watched this on the bus and HAD NO ONE TO GUSH TO (so I retweeted it). The last few scenes WERE MIND BLOWING. Wongfu has surpassed my expectations yet again! And I thought the AJ Rafael MV was good. This one nearly ripped my bleeding heart out. I am probably exaggerating. /edit THEN AGAIN MAYBE NOT (I just watched it again).

3. GLEE SPOILER ALERT: I DREAMED A DREAM BY IDINA MENZEL & LEA MICHELLE.

NPH IS AS EPIC AS EVER BUT THE REAL HIGHLIGHT OF THIS EPISODE HAD TO BE THIS MOMENT. Hands down. My favourite musical? And my favourite song from my favourite musical, too? Really? REALLY?? Listening to this song Always gives me chills. But having it ON GLEE and sung by Two Amazing Powerhouses (who look freakishly alike. Nice casting there) with such crazy vocals that pierce through your soul is another level of Having Chills altogether.

After going through this tumblr, I was suddenly FILLED WITH NOSTALGIA FOR MY FAVOURITE TV SERIES IN THE WORLD, THE OC. I am pretty confident when I say that no other TV series has managed to impact me the way The OC has. It could be because when it came out, I was right smack in my TEENS, yo. I had a young impressionable mind.

Anyhow, I decided that I HAVE TO WATCH SEASON 4 (I stopped after Season 3 because I got so depressed about Marissa’s death so I went on a boycott) to complete my loyalty to the series. AND I have to watch all the seasons again. In fact, I want the entire collection on my (imaginary) shelf. NOW YOU KNOW WHAT TO GET ME FOR CHRISTMAS.

Reasons why The OC is the best show ever here. AND YES, it was because of this show that you now have all your Gossip Girl/ The Hills/90210 and whatnot. This is the original shizz. I remember everyone used to think it was SO trashy, but all these people never sat down and gave it a chance. THE OC IS THE BOMB. AND I WOULD HAVE YOU KNOW THAT shows now are x102913232 trashier.

I’m glad that this is what I grew up with. And I quote a best friend,
