{& yes I photoshopped them to make us look more glam & less oilyfaced than we really are}
TONIGHT, I SEALED MY IDENTITY AS A YOUTUBE FANGIRL <3
I was never that big a fan of David Choi – I liked some of his songs and all, but twas never crazy over him like I am WONGFU & KEVJUMBA (<33) – but after watching him live tonight, I’VE BECOME A FAN!!!!
And for those people who are like HUH WHOS DAVID CHOI!? (zz)
This is David Choi:
He is a youtube singer/songwriter and probably one of the more famous ones on youtube. (+one of the more famous asian-americans on youtube) Subscribe to him here.
He performed tonight at TAB:
I really like this place other than the fact they kept coming around every 5 minutes asking us if we want to order more drinks. -.- I was on the brink of carrying out Marcus’ suggestion of WHERES YOUR MANAGER. I AM A PAYING CUSTOMER.
The drinks:
THE BEST DRINK IN THE WORLD. Its called Toblerone. Baileys + kahlua + milk + honey + all other sweet chocolatey amazingness.
The company:
The man:
Majority of what made me really like DChoi was that he was so funny and down to earth. AND SMALL AND CUTE. He messed up quite a few times on the high notes and he was so paiseh about it he couldn’t finish his song properly HAHA but it was really funny. + he had alot of audience interaction/Q&A. + THE CALIFORNIAN ACCENT IS ALWAYS WIN – which Geri pointed out reminded us of Andrew :’(((
Did I mention he sounds really good live? YAY. His set included WON’T EVEN START & THAT GIRL (which are the only 2 songs I know ALL the lyrics for), and a song about a girl picking her nose which I thought was really cute. YAYY.
I BOUGHT HIS CD! So he could autograph <3
The queue that formed after.
My semi-fangirl moment.
ALL OF US + DCHOI!
{FANGIRL RANTING STARTING RIGHT ABOUT NOW}
SO HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY AND STARSTRUCK BECAUSE WE GOT TO TALK TO HIM & we told him that he should have sung DANCE TO THIS SONG!!!!! THEN WE SAID HE SHOULD DO AN ACOUSTIC COVER OF DTTS (which I am trying to get Marcus & Geri to do) AND HE SAID THAT THEY WANT TO DO ONE BUT KEVJUMBA LIVES FAR AWAY FROM THEM. AND THEN I SAID OH WHY DONT ASK YOU ASK WES AND TED TO RAP INSTEAD AND CUT KEVJUMBA OUT. LIKE WES AND TED ARE MY FRIENDS LIKE THAT. I ACT COOL ONLY. LIKE A TRUE BLUE YOUTUBE FANGIRL.
<3
It really was quite surreal seeing him in real life when usually I’m so used to watching him on youtube.. and he talks to you like you’re just a normal friend. SUPER FANGIRL MOMENT + TRYING TO KEEP COOL RIGHT THERE.
I was telling Geri that if Wong Fu comes to Singapore, and they have a autograph/photo session like this, I swear I’ll be too STARSTRUCK+FANGIRL+HYPERVENTILATING+DYING to even say anything. OMG.
OKAY IM REALLY HAPPY NOW + RANT OVER + I WANTED TO BLOG THIS BEFORE THE MAGIC FADED. GOODNIGHT.
New haunts p2: Papa Palheta
28/07/2010
The second new haunt we discovered today (or rather got introduced to) is one of the quaintest coffee places on the island I’ve been to. Kiyoko told me abt it before, but I never really got down to checking it out till today.
Ditch the pricey cafes at Ann Siang and Club street, at Papa Palheta you pay for whatever amount you feel the coffee deserves. Plus you can choose indoor or outdoor seating. Plus they make those foam shaped things on your coffee. Plus the people are friendly. Love it.
Met some of Miche’s law friends in the process, then went home to get changed for CBR! Super stoked for tonight :)
New haunts p1: Picotin
28/07/2010
Today’s brunch was semi-fail and later redeemed because we realized that Mimolette only served brunch on weekends :(
Instead, we left for greener pastures, via illegal transportation arrangements.
Picotin/ Menu & bread/ Miche & food/ Michael’s Pinto pizza/ My beef lasagna that I could barely finish half/ Peering into the bakery.
Just a sidenote: Angmoh children are so cute.

Banyan tree treats
13/07/2010
Every week or so, we end up at Kat’s house for dinner/stayover/whatnot. The Banyan Tree has some compelling force that draws us there. It probably has to do with THE MAGIC KITCHEN & ITS CONSISTENT SUPPLY OF DELECTABLE FOODS.
FROZEN GRAPES ARE LOVE. Or ice cream.
You can never go wrong with cheese, crackers & ham.
Neither can you go wrong with red wine to accompany the cheese, crackers & ham.
And at our recent @ our recent steak&foiegras night, Kat cooked for us again :)
FOIE GRAS <3
TENDERLOIN STEAK.
Kat is awesome because the steak was really MEDIUM RARE. SO RARE SO GOOD. MMMMMM.
And yes, this entire post has been pictures of food. Good food deserves some limelight.
Oomphatico!

This week’s haunt.
Kat laughed until her cheeks cramped. Stumbled upon blastfromthepast in an alley. And I suck at brain teasers. Yeah, I don’t even try. Sorry Mat. HAHA.

I just discovered PHOTOS in my camera that I haven’t uploaded, dating back to about two months ago. Whoops. KAY THEYLL BE UP SOON. Get ready for a photo vomit post. I’m sure you miss those, cos I do!
SOC: Koi
25/05/2010
Stream of consciousness (KOI VERSION): Go home or go get koi? 6PM LEAVE OFFICE NOW. Big strides, BIG strides. Koi, I’m coming for you! Is it even that nice? Probably not, but who cares! A SHORT QUEUE!!! (in mandarin) Milk tea with pearls half sugar small. Nvm that I am swimming in sweat and my jeans have officially cut off circulation due to the insane heat. So. WARM. MY KOI!!! I am grabbing it and racing away.. wait a min, I’m not sure that was even my order. WHO CARES!! Sipping Koi gleefully. Oh damn can’t drink in the MRT. Hide it in my purse. Contemplate breaking the law for just a sip. TOO WEAK AND SCARED. On the train now typing this thinking that I am either psychotic or a freak. THEY BOTH MEAN THE SAME THING. Thats just not cool. Bur srsly. Not like Koi is a cup of unicorn tears that will give me magic powers. I am such a victim of overhyped brainless trends. Go me. (I’m still thinking about the Koi tucked away in my purse).
Exclusive dinner @ The BYT
14/05/2010
So I’m sorry if you didn’t get the invite to attend the Exclusive tasting at the Banyan Tree dinner last week.
Don’t worry, Mat & I attended it on everyone’s behalf.
Yup, that’s us toasting to the (occasional) high life.
LET ME NOW SHARE WITH YOU OUR SPLENDID EVENING.
x
We had a 5 course dinner at a table set with candles, with Baileys for company.
Course #1: Tapas-style appetizer
Ham & 10239123 cheeses & herbs & a sprinkle of DELECTABLE set on bite-sized crackers and melted to perfection. I swear this was the best course even though it looked the simplest to make. ONE DAY I WILL TRY MAKING THIS AT HOME (!!)
Course #2: Liquid gastronomia
Mushroom soup and truffle oil for the extra mmmmyeah. The soup was made from SCRATCH UH HUH that is commitment and quality to the highest order right there.
Course #3: The Need for some Green
Our vegetable dose for the day! Raw baby spinach (MATILDA TAN I REMEMBER OKAY) and roasted chicken cubes with amazing salad dressing (how does one describe the taste of salad dressing? This is as far as my amateur food critic skills take me)
Course #4: Stuffings and surprises
Spicy angelhair pasta which revealed tender DUCK SLICES underneath (surprise!), prawn with idontknowwhatwasontopofit (MAT HELP ME OUT HERE) and boiled eggs stuffed with duck and egg yolk. (I’m actually making most of this up cos I was too busy eating this dish to ask what was actually in it)
Course #5: Asian pride
And last but not least, WAGYU BEEF WITH JAPANESE SOBA. We ended with a cold dish – how unconventional! And a great way to end as well, with our satisfied tummies filled delicately to the brim. Mmmmmm.
I would have you know that each course was actually brought in dish by dish, in small little plates and bowls IN TRAYS, and then cleared out course by course for the next one to come in. Banyan Tree provides excellent service indeed. (I’m starting to worry if the real Banyan Tree is going to sue me for using their name. Maybe I should relabel to Banyon Tree or something).
And now, our compliments to the chef.
Katherine (featured on the right) is a 22 year old student from SMU. She loves her dog, her family and HER AWESOME LIFE LIVING IN HER BANYANTREEHOME. In her free time, she enjoys the occasional water sport, shopping spree, and luxury drive around the island. She has been labeled an adrenaline junkie by her friends, and has most recently taken up culinary art as an interest.

And yes, that was my virgin attempt at food photography & journalism. I think I should just stick to blogging about frivolous things like thoughts and feelings and italicized emo lyrics. :(

I LOVE YOU C.C.
04/05/2010
So.
Do you know what is one of my absolute FAVOURITE FOODS that makes me the happiest person in the world every time I bite into it?
CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS.
There are no words for my love of this wonderful baked drug. I don’t even remember how my sekret love for it began! All I know is that everytime I bite into a chocolate croissant, I FEEL JOY.
{I just had one from Swissbakery and it was AWESM – this explains the sudden rant}
Well the problem was that when I was in Berkeley, they sold this at the Ihouse cafe. WHICH WAS LIKE A 5 MINUTE WALK FROM MY ROOM. So it turned into a pretty unhealthy ritual of “one chocolate croissant please” AND (this is all Shamil’s fault I blame Shamil) “and one cup of hot milk”.
AHA, see the thing is I DON’T DRINK MILK. Or pure milk, at least. I kinda hate it. BUT WHAT MISTER SHAMIL taught me was to put HONEY in the milk. And my oh my did it make all the world of a difference.
What made things worse was that I have a sweet tooth. So honey in milk means honey in milk. To the extent that you can only taste the sweetness and pretty much no milk. HAHAHA. Can you imagine what an unhealthy combination that was!? (but ohsoAMAYZING) Chocolate croissants and milk with copious amounts of honey every other day. Yeah, not to mention I stopped going to the gym after Spring Break. YJ begged and pleaded with me to go with him on his insane twice-a-day gym ritual – NO SIRREE. Find me later – I’ll be curled up here by the Great Hall fire…
x
One night I tried to reform. I told YJ: When you see me at the cafe, you have to STOP me from buying chocolate croissants and whatnot!
A few days later we were at the cafe counter, I pointed and turned to YJ – “should I get the chocolate croissant? Or should I just skip it and go for class straight?”
YJ: You like it right. Then just get it lah (LAH SOMEMORE).
x
Yeah, in the end I bought it. And regretted almost immediately after.
Boyfriends are BAD cos they encourage you to be happy (read: EAT. burritos, bubbletea, donuts, and the like at 2am in the morning). Happy isn’t necessarily healthy. YJ’s defence? You can eat as much as you like, but you have to exercise after! That’s why I keep asking you to go to the gym with me!
The annoying part is that he is right :(
Guten Tag!

Dinner on the night of Gid’s POP @ Brotzeit.
We kinda stumbled upon it while wandering around Vivocity.
Gid & I thought it would be wise to block out Dad’s face with THE BEER. HAHAHAHA. German beer ftw.
AWESOME pork knuckle (and it wasn’t even on the menu! Sekret order.)
German sausage platter.
x
In continuing the spirit of the POP! CELEBRATION, the Yap family took on UNIVERSAL STUDIOS SINGAPORE yesterday.
Insanity ensued.
Everything with.

EVERYTHINGWITHFRIES with EVERYONE!
I think I should organise dinners once a month. I miss everybody :(
Ooh, and we spotted MISS NETTY!
{Hipstamatic photos credit to Esther}
Man, look at my ANNOYED/PISSED/WTH FACE. Michael must’ve said something reallllll-ly stupid.
{Review of the food!}
I think the fries were Awesome (shoestring or straight cut? Nat asked the waitress if they had CRINKLED CUT HAHA) and the burgers/sandwiches were honestly not that bad. Good portions too.
ALSO, NUTELLA TART FTW. Except if you eat it all my yourself (LIKE MICHAEL THE THNG DID) you’ll probably get diabetes and die. Rich and JE-LAT ttm. ZOMG that describes MICHAEL! Okay I’m really kidding.
What we love to do, and what I kinda miss doing. Standing in the middle of the road of HV doing Absolutely Nothing.

Girlfriends @ Brewerkz.
I can’t quite remember the occasion.. but I know this was the night that after dinner, Cheryl, Mat and I spontaneously decided to watch Valentine’s Day the movie at midnight and were fully exhausted after that – leading us all to the conclusion that we are clearly not teens anymore.
And this was the first time I’d seen Kat after she got back from Europe!
x
MA BIRTHDAY @ Cafe 211.
Risotto and ice cream latte TO DIE FOR. I’m kinda craving some seafood risotto now. The place was open air on the rooftop, and had fab ambience.
Note: I wore my ACS the whole day!
We sat and talked until they switched off the music and started packing up the chairs which was our cue to GET LOST. Then we wound up at Swenson’s where this little boy at the next table abused my balloons and the three of us played with.. well, IPhone apps.
I don’t know if its embarrassing or funny for the three of us! Haha. Kat’s clock is one minute quick! FAIL.
x
I love hanging out with these womans, but I miss our sleepovers @ the Banyan Tree (aka Kat’s house) the most. SLEEPOVER SOON PLS. Although I know we’ll all probably fall asleep by 2am. COS WE’RE OLD AND GRANNY LIKE NOW :(
